SOPHOMORE YEAR | WEEK 2

The Start of Fall Ball | This week, in the Social Media Manager world, the Women's Lacrosse team at ONU started their fall practices, or "Fall Ball!" The NCAA gives us about 16-20 practices each off-season that don't include lifts or captains practices. They are defined as practices run by an official team coach. So this week, the girls started with something called Speed School. The brother of one of our seniors comes up from Columbus to work on sprinting, acceleration, and stride with the girls. Being the Social Media Manager means that I get to sit there and look pretty, while also taking pictures and posting on our Instagram account. It also means I get paid to be there so I worked about five hours this week so far. So far the fall season has started off great. Next week starts 6:00am practices, so let’s see how many of those I show up to. Maybe the money will be worth it.

Sorority Recruitment | I am so excited that in exactly a week, we will start formal rounds of recruitment. I have been looking forward to being on this side of the process for months. Recruitment last year was such an amazing experience, so I can’t wait to meet the new class of members for Zeta Tau Alpha, and all the other chapters on campus. Most of all, I’m excited for my sisters who have served as amazing Rho Gammas this fall to run back home to ZTA. The Rho Gammas at ONU disaffiliate from their sororities for the recruitment season to act as an unbiased guide for Potential New Members as they find their home. It has been so tough seeing my sisters on campus who serve as Rho Gammas and not be able to hug them or yell to them across a room. But in the end, they work really hard to make recruitment the best experience it can be for the Potential New Members.

  1. Hey Carly, I'm glad everything is going well with the women's lacrosse team. I know a few people on the team but rarely hear that much about what they have going on. The most I usually see is the team's TikTok's. It's really interesting to see the other side of recruitment and I hope everything turns out well for the Zetas and other chapters. Running home is definitely going to be fun and I'll be able to wear half my closet again.
