Textbook | Chapter 1
We Are In Control | The user holds all the power when it comes to social media. That is what I took away from Chapter 1 of our textbook. Without the user, there is no content, and with no content, there is no use for the platform. In my everyday life as a Social Media Manager for the Women's Lacrosse Team at ONU, I use many of the terms listed in this chapter. CTA or Call to Action is something I think about every time I post. A post without a link is one less person watching our games, viewing our stats, or even visit our school as a recruit. I also use reach a lot. I want to know who is viewing our posts, and how they found them. My goal is to reach more people on the Instagram Explore Page than by them following us, them hopefully gain followers from being on the Explore Page. I think that the Social Media Skills Gap is a huge factor in getting your message out. I like that they included that just because you grew up with social media, does not mean you know what it takes to run a professional account. That is definitely something I have learned in the past six months.
