TEXTBOOK | CHAPTER 12
A Bit Skeptical of Blogging | I am going to be honest, I have never followed or subscribed to a blog in my life. So when I realized that such a big portion of this class was us creating our own blog, I was a little shocked. I just didn't think that blogs were a "thing" anymore. It is so easy for people to post videos or pictures of what they're doing, why would anyone want to sit down and read a blog if they won't even read magazines anymore? But maybe I am just misinterpreting the modern blog. When I think of a blog, I think of a sketchy, unorganized website, with random thoughts and pictures that are not good enough quality to be posted to the internet. But this class and the textbook seem to hype blogging up a lot. The textbook says that blogging is a huge part of the marketing industry and will turn into a way more interactive medium, not just people spewing stories. But I really think that Tik Tok accounts of people telling you what to buy, with links in their bios, reach millions more people than any blog that I know of. Maybe this class will prove my assumptions wrong.
I felt the same way when we were told that we were supposed to create a blog. And it definitely wasn't until reading chapter 12 that I realized how many blogs actually existed.
